Only You
Chapter One

“Ah, it’s morning,” whispered softly to herself as she woke up from sunlight that hit her eyes. , seventeen years old, attended Ashford Academy after wanting to escape city life and attending public schools when she was younger. It was the first day for the new school year and pondered if she should go to class early.

“Maybe I’ll sleep in for a bit longer…,” grimaced, feeling her body ache as a result from cleaning and lifting objects around her room the previous night.

After setting up the alarm, decided that it was time to catch a few more minutes of sleep. Little did she know that she would actually be waking up in fifty minutes instead of five.

“Alright alright, I’m getting up!” thought to herself as the alarm echoed loudly into the room.

Not bothering to check on the time, decided on getting ready for the first day of class slower than usual. She was not looking forward to the radical events Milly Ashford was planning without her consent ( was events coordinator on student council, after all) nor was she excited on being forced to play matchmaker for Shirley Fenette due to a close relationship with Lelouch Lamperouge.

looked at the mirror, observing the uniform that traced the outer curves of her body.

“The shower really did help,” she grinning at her reflection, satisfied with how she looked for the first day of class. finally glanced at the clock and realized what happened since she reset her alarm. She overslept.

“SHIT! I’m late!”

Picking up her bag, abruptly left her room and ran to her homeroom class. was not looking forward to the embarrassment she would face in front of her peers.

“I just had to pick the first day of class to sleep in, didn’t I?” she said, running through the courtyard. had no choice but to walk to class after a teacher caught her running upon arrival inside the building. She could feel her heart beat faster and faster as she inched closer to her homeroom class. She stood in the doorway and looked at her homeroom teacher.

“Ah, Miss , you arrived halfway into the history lesson.”

“I’m sorry…,” said .

Lelouch smirked to himself, not surprised that would arrive late on the first day. He quickly turned his head to look out the window once passed by, only imagining of the faces she would be making at him if their eyes met. sat in the middle of the classroom with a vacant seat beside her. Knowing that all her classmates are present, took the liberty of using the space beside her for extra room while working in class.

“Since you’re late Miss please open the textbook to page 47 and read the entire passage on Classical Chinese poetry. After reading, discuss with the class what you think the passage means.”

opened her textbook and submitted to the authority of the teacher, much against her own will. Reading was only the easy part, but analyzing readings and passages was one of ’s weaknesses, especially in front of the entire class.

“So, what do you guys think?” asked Milly, glancing at her fellow student council members.

“President, I think that—”
“—this event is ridiculous.”

Rivalz Cardemonde looked at the person that cut him off. He was alarmed that finally spoke up for the first time while discussing upcoming events. All of the council members knew of her to be the submissive type, so standing up to Milly was a shock for them to handle.

“Really ? And why’s that?” Milly stroked her chin, eyeing the events coordinator. Oh how knew she wasn’t going to get out of this one.

Moments after debating with Milly, more or less Milly bringing out the flaws in her personality, finally gave in to the event knowing that "no" wasn’t being received as an "appropriate" answer.

“Thank you,” said Milly. Milly knew that by pushing ’s buttons that she’d get her way.

Lelouch added on, “since this event is going to be similar to the annual festival, what exactly do you intend on having for the events?”

“We can exactly mirror the festival since the activities always draw in a large amount of the student body,” Milly replied.

“How about a ball? It’ll basically be a dance more formal than what we normally hold with everyone in elegant costumes and outfits. We can use the clubhouse,” Shirley butted in.

“Eh? You’re not saying something like those royal balls we’ve heard in Britannia’s history books while the Monarchy existed around the 1600s to the 1800s?” Kallen Kozuki asked, not thrilled on the idea of wearing elegant clothing.

“I think that’s what she means, Kallen. Shirley, I love that idea! With a dance so extravagant and out of the ordinary, everyone would look forward to it. Vice president, do you have any suggestions?” Milly turned to Lelouch, hoping to receive a very informative answer from him.

“After giving it a quick thought, I actually don’t have anything to add on. I’m only curious about the time constraints we will be enduring once a date is set,” said Lelouch.

“How does three weeks sound?” asked Milly.

“Well, we need to fundraise, don’t we?” looked at Milly, questioning her seriousness.

“Not to worry! We still have enough money left over to finance the ball, right Rivalz?” laughed Milly.

Rivalz smiled contently, “we’re good for at least three more events because of how successful our last fundraiser was.”

Laughter erupted in the room as all eyes were on Lelouch. grinned as she remembered when the student council members forced Lelouch to model in a speedo for the fashion fundraising event. Lelouch immediately reacted by giving everyone in the room a stern look in hopes to calm them down. chuckled and decided to remain quiet knowing that bringing up details on the past fundraising event would be “painful” to Lelouch.

“I’m all for it,” said .

Kallen nodded in agreement, “what said.”

“Three weeks it is,” Milly said, satisfied with the outcome of their meeting.

“Did you hang out with Lelouch today?” Shirley asked, hoping there was any progress on Lelouch’s feelings for her.

“No, he said he needed to do some things with Nunnally,” said, walking between Milly and Shirley as the three walk through the gardens.

Milly directed her attention to . She was more interested in ’s love life than Shirley’s outspoken crush on Lelouch. was very apathetic about dating, rejecting guys vying for her affection left and right. Milly slowed herself down and maintained a distance from Shirley and , lost in thought.

“She’s definitely not a lesbian, but she doesn’t show any emotion towards guys whatsoever and rejects them so harshly. Hmm…maybe this ball will change her a bit.” Milly paused herself as she continued to make her observations of .

“I think it’s time that I play fairy godmother to Cinderella,” Milly beamed.

“This is it: Ashford Academy,” he said while standing in front of the open gates, his duffle resting at his side. Placing his sunglasses in his hair, Suzaku Kururugi took a deep breath as he made his way through the gates.
